For a whole week, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu exuded joy uncontrollably as people from all walks of life from the least to the greatest in Nigeria including President Muhammadu Buhari made Lagos a concourse to celebrate the Lion of Bourdillon at 66. The highest moment was the special and memorable live interaction he spared time to have with children (the socio-politically innocent class of any society). The children had earlier on Monday made a drama presentation laced with a thought-provoking poem about the life of Asiwaju as perceived by them which sent everyone at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos venue into some sort of astonishment with sober reflections about the true essence of fame, money, and power. Asiwaju who couldn’t be physically present at the event due to a political emergency sent his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to the heavily attended night of inspiration that had the likes of King Sunny Ade, Prof Pat Utomi, Ben Murray Bruce, John Momoh of Channels Television, Dele Alake, Wale Edun, Yemi Cardoso, Hon. Valentine Buraimoh, Otunba Durojaiye, Rauf Aregbesola (Jnr), Alhaji Rasaq Okoya (Eleganza), representatives of the Vice President – Dr (Mrs) Jumoke Oduwole, Emir of Kano, Ooni of Ife, Oba of Lagos, Princess Abbah Folawiyo, Governors of Oyo, Osun and Edo States, Senators Gbenga Ashafa and Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), Engr Jide Adeniji also represented Alhaji Abubakar Atiku and many other distinguished personalities including lots of young lads drawn from the 3 Senatorial districts in Lagos.
To the surprise of all, in less than 10 hours, Asiwaju got a full report of this event that was organized by MATTERS OF HERITAGE and lavishly sponsored by Senators Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), Gbenga Ashafa, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Hon Valentine Buraimoh, he quickly called for these politically innocent children to be brought to his Bourdillon, Ikoyi residence for a private time. After a fun-filled and stirring session with a sumptuous lunch provided by Asiwaju’s wife, the 17 children involved were given a supple scholarship as a reward for making the Lion of Bourdillon happy with sober reflections.
Indeed, “While we try to teach children all about life, children, in turn, teach us what life is all about” also true is the saying that “Old men can make war but it is children who truly make history by living the story”
Once again, Happy Birthday to JAGABAN – the indefatigable and enterprising political enigma.
May the years ahead of you be much more and spent in usefulness to the purpose of God for the freedom of men across the generations.
And to all my friends and family, HAPPY EASTER HOLIDAY
